From the President

Hello fellow WCAL members. We had beautiful weather for the Art Crawl on Aug. 2nd. Quite a few people visited us at Martha Merrell's, hopefully some will become new members. Time will tell. We will discuss the possibility of doing this again on Oct. 4th and Dec. 6th.

The WCAL Plein air at Frame Park in Waukesha is still a go. I have heard from a couple of you showing interest. Please text, call or email me to confirm you are still coming. I still plan on contacting the Freeman newspaper to get WCAL some publicity if we have a decent number of people turn out. I will be there regardless at 10.00 am at the flower gardens. They are next to the ball diamond with parking and bathrooms right there.

I'd also like to mention that Waukesha Park & Rec Dept. offers an "Open Studio". It is a well-ventilated, large room for artists to meet and paint, draw and talk art with other artists. There are oil painters, watercolorists, pastels, colored pencils, acrylic painters etc. Times are 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM every Tuesday, running from September through December. It is open to the first 21 people who sign up. You must be 55 or older. If it does not fill up, younger people are then encouraged to sign up. It will be advertised in the upcoming "Waukesha Fall Activity Guide", coming out soon. You can come anytime you wish and stay as long as you want. I believe the cost was $16.00 for Waukesha residents, and a little more for non-residents.

From the Vice President

We have the Brookfield Library full through November but could use people for December and then into 2026!

Please check the sign up book as I will miss the August meeting. Tudor Oaks is full through Nov. and I'm still waiting to hear back from Jane G there about future dates.

We are excited to have a few new members and are anxious to get to know them better. If any of the newer artists need help in setting up a show at these venues please let me know and I can give you more details.

From the Courthouse Show Chair

It is getting to be that time of the year for the group to exhibit at the courthouse. I can't wait to start getting the entries and setup time will be here before we know it. They are also up on the website.
Keep creating

From the Members Show Chair:

Hope you are keeping your brushes wet or oiled in preparing for our annual show at Oconomowoc Art Center. Drop off date is Nov. 25, 2025 at 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Strike date is Jan. 12, 2026 at 9:30 am.to 11:00 am. Three pieces no larger than 36in x36in. properly framed. Entry forms will be distributed in Oct. Happy creating everyone.

From the Program Chair

For our August program, we will be having a critique. Susan Farmer Tiefenthaler will be our guest artist. Please bring a piece of work for her to talk about. As our group is getting larger, please only bring one item for critique. That way we do not have to worry about getting through all the paintings.
In September, our artist will be Thomas Buchs, who will be painting a still life for us as a Demo.

From the Challenge Chair

Our challenge for our upcoming meeting in August, is to create something with “waves”, such as ocean waves, being the main subject matter.
For our September meeting , the challenge will be to have fun painting a small piece of furniture , such as a chair or a stool. If you don’t want to bring it in you can bring in a picture.
The challenge for our October meeting will be to paint a still life, with it physically in front of you: not from a photo.

From the Treasurer

Fellow members,

July Treasurer's Report and the latest Members List were attached in the email.

Please welcome our newest member Michelle "Mick" Andre. See you at the August meeting on the 20th.
